A radiation oncologist’s training includes four years of medical school, one year of specialized medical training, then three to four years of residency training in the field of radiation oncology. Each is board certified in Radiation Oncology by the American Board of Radiology.
Medical Physicists
Qualified medical radiation physicists work directly with the radiation oncologist during treatment planning and delivery. A great deal of emphasis of the medical physics department is focused on quality assurance. Our medical physicist oversees the work of the dosimetrist, and helps ensure treatments are properly tailored for each individual. Responsibility of the medical physicist also includes making sure the equipment works properly by taking precise measurements of the radiation beam and performing other safety tests on a regular basis. These efforts combined with rigid safety compliance offer our patients the best quality of care possible.
