Joseph G.Ross, M.D.

From Blytheville, Arkansas, Dr. Ross attended the University of Arkansas and received a B.A. in Zoology in 1975, and then his M.D. degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 1979.  After completing a residency in Family Practice in 1982 from Charlotte Memorial in Charlotte, North Carolina, he was board certified in Family Medicine from the American Board of Family Medicine.  Shortly after that time, he opened a private practice in Rock Hill, SC and practiced there until 1989 when he chose to go back and pursue further training in radiation therapy and completed an additional residency in 1993 from the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.  He became board certified in radiation oncology from the American Board of Radiology in June, 1993.  With Dr. Hershey Garner, Dr. Ross formed Ozark Radiation Oncology and provided the professional radiation oncology component at the Northwest Arkansas Radiation Therapy Institute (NARTI) in Springdale, Arkansas.  Dr. Ross continued in that specialty practice until May of 2008 when his partners and he joined with the Highlands Oncology Group, PA practice to move towards a comprehensive cancer center approach bringing radiation therapy under the umbrella of oncology services provided by H.O.G.  Dr. Ross specializes in prostate brachytherapy, intracavitary (GYN) brachytherapy, linear accelerator based radiation therapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, and intraluminal brachytherapy.  He is a member of several professional medical societies including the American Medical Association, American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology (ASTRO), and the Washington County Medical Society.
